My husband and I make a yearly trip to Las Vegas, I passionately refer to it as our annual trip to our future home. We have visited Vegas enough to be able to offer some frugal tips and our experiences to Las Vegas visitors. We try to get the best bang for our buck in the rooms that we stay, The meals we eat and the shows we see. This is a work in progress so come back in the near future. In my best Elvis voice - Thank you, thank you very much!

Caesars CET properties now charging resort fees
For several years I have praised Caesars CET properties formerly Harrah's for not charging those terrible hated resort fees. I regret to say that I can no longer make those statements touting their greatness. On several Las Vegas message boards this past week this has been the heavy topic of discussion. Word has it that Platinum and up members will not have to pay the fees on comped rooms but the rest of us will have to pay them, even if your room is comped. I have known for years that gambling in CET properties have lower pay scales than other casinos in Las Vegas but we have always willingly gambled and taken our chances because they gave us upscale free rooms w/o fees. I know losing my $$$ will not break the bank so to say at the CET Casinos but I will have to reconsider my choices. We make one seven day trip to Las Vegas per year staying in CET casinos for 2 - 4 nights. The closest Total Rewards Casino to my home is 3.5 hours away (there are other local nonCET casinos closer 1.25 - 2 hrs). I will never ever be able to become a Platinum Member to have that fee waived so sadly this likely will be my last year (we already had our reservation made before the March 1st deadline) to stay with the CET unless changes are made.
